A subway ride in the dead of night
ought to be a safe trip when you're built like Jack Reacher, but not when there's a bomber on board. If
you're thinking Reacher's not going to get involved, then you don't know Jack.
The line between Hope and Despair was
exactly that: a line, in the road, formed where one town's blacktop finished and the other's started. When Reacher
crossed that line, it wasn't long before the whole town knew it. And wanted him gone...fast.
Nobody tracks down
Jack Reacher unless he wants them to find him. No phone, no permanent address, no family to call. No
trail...except for the broken hearts, maybe. But someone awfully clever leaves a coded message for Reacher.
A message that will bring Reacher, and a handful of other clever minds he could namein his sleep if
he had totogether for the first time in almost a decade.
Drinking espresso in NYC, Reacher sits...watching. Possibly, even
relaxing. Yah, that's not gonna last. Soon he's helping a man whose
wife and daughter have been kidnapped. This man knows how to wage war, but
all-out war will only get them killed. What he needs is a hunter, an
investigator; what he thinks he has is a man he can control.
Somewhere in Indiana, six sniper shots ring out in the afternoon calm.
Evidence everywhere, the sniper is caught easily. "Get Jack Reacher for
me." is all he'll say during interrogation. "Who's Reacher?" wonder the
police. They find out soon enough because Reacher's already on his way
for reasons of his own.
This is a prequel, set in 1990 before the events of Killing Floor.
Reacher's still an MP, still a company man, still held to a strict code
of ethics. When a general is found dead in a sleazy motel in North
Carolina, it opens up a real can of worms. And while Reacher looks for
answers, he could discover he's not such a company man after all.
Walking along the street, Reacher sees a man who should be dead. Ten
years before, that man murdered someone important to Reacher and got
away with it. Should Reacher contact the police and let them sort it
out? That isn't something Reacher has much patience for. No-wait
justice, that's our guy.
One Secret Service mandate is to protect the Vice President; they're the
best at doing just that. Or so they think. When Reacher is hired to test
their assumption, he doesn't know he's not the only one after the VP.
But these killers who want the VP dead don't know about Reacher either,
and that may be their only mistake.
When a gorgeous, desperate housewife opens the door of her
air-conditioned car to Reacher when he's hitchhiking in the high heat of
a Texas sun, they end up taking the ride of their lives.
RUNNING BLIND (US) THE VISITOR (UK) 4th JACK REACHER BOOK
Sgt. Amy Callan and Lt. Caroline Cook are both high-flying, career army
women, both victims of sexual harassment by their superiors, both forced
to resign. And now they're both dead. The murder investigators are sure
Reacher has the answers to their question: how did these women die? And
why?
Reacher's lazy anonymity in Key West is shattered by a stranger who
comes to town searching for him but ends up dead. Following the man's
trail back to New York, he finds a bewildered, elderly couple still
mourning an all-American son lost in Vietnam, a woman Reacher couldn't
forget, and a most vicious opponent.
In a quiet Chicago suburb, a dentist is attacked in his office and
forced into the trunk of his own car. On a sidewalk downtown, Jack
Reacher and an unknown woman are abducted in broad daylight. Reacher and
the mysterious woman are held hostage for ransom. With only their wits
and a mutual trust, she and Reacher must escape from a wilderness prison
and the grasp of a man bent on revenge.
The electrifying debut novel which introduces Jack Reacher, a drifter
and ex-military policeman; a man of action unafraid to take justice into
his own hands; a man of intelligence and cunning. Shortly after Reacher
arrives in the sleepy town of Margrave, Georgia he's arrested for
murder. The next three days' events leave everyone stunned. Unable to
walk away from the situation, Reacher must unravel the mystery before a
team of killers make him the next victim.
